Lou Boeri presented the data and findings gathered by his task force. Lou’s mission was to contact developers of the remaining commercial land in the Hunt Valley-Sparks area to determine plans to build through 2005. His report indicated that there are plans to develop in excess of three million square feet of office space over this time period. This is considerable more than was statistically projected. This space will be converted into number of employees and number of automobiles using the Hunt Valley road systems. This data will be reflected in revised projections by the county for the State Roads Commission to plan their responses to handle the traffic load. We are grateful to Lou and his team for this essential information that will favorably impact the planning process for improved transportation. If you could not attend, you may request this data from me at director@hvbf.org.
Emery Hines was pleased with the results of his request for better growth data than was available to the County. Emory will also be updating the current employee population with some data gathered by Dun & Bradstreet, after verification.
I reported that a meeting with the state delegates and state senator involved in the Ashland/Papermill/Shawan Road Extension is scheduled for September 26. Rick Webb and I will meet with them. Our role is to facilitate action that will move the legislative process forward to resolve the issues involved.
Dave Malkowski, State Highway Administration and one of our newest members, reported on plans in process, completed and in planning that will affect the Hunt Valley area. Dave commented on the process for change in the transportation system. Dave, or a member of his team, will be regular attendees keeping us advised on transportation matters. They will be available for your monthly comments and questions.
Dave shared with us the website www.chart.state.md.us for current highway information.
One of our missions is to inform and be informed. These Roundtables between private industry and local government held us to reach that goal.
Lt. Marty Lurz, Baltimore County Police Dept in Cockeysville, reported an increase in thefts of lap top computers by perpetrators entering offices in the Hunt Valley area impersonating cleaning custodial staff or supervisors. These people frequently have false identification. Be sure you know who is authorized to be on your premises and monitor them while they are there. Lt. Lurz or Capt Cohen will be regular attendees at our monthly meeting to give you security updates and answer your questions. They will also provide me with urgent information that I can email to you in a timely manner.
This summary will appear on our website www.hvbf.org, click on the EVENTS section and then on the event to see a summary.
The next scheduled meeting of the Roundtable will be October 18 at the Graduate Center at Loyola College from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.. Subsequent meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month.
Please advise me if there are others in your company who should receive these summaries and announcements at
director@hvbf.org.
