Chairman Steve Roth opened the Roundtable with a welcome and introduction of first time participants.

Forum Chairman Rick Webb reported on the latest events in the Shawan Road Extension issue. Action to extend Shawan Road is effectively on hold until a meeting under the federal guidelines can be called for the community to express their approval or disapproval of the extension with applicable amendments. The Forum will attempt to bring the issue to resolution after elections and redistricting which can affect further action.

Randall Scott was questioned about traffic studies for a signal at York and Schilling Roads. Randall will research and report to us at our next meeting.

David Fritz reported that the construction on York Road and Wight Avenue is for Millennium Chemical, a restaurant and a mini-storage facility.

Jamie Kendrick provided some handouts and some information about the Baltimore Region Rail System Plan and promised to return to us with a presentation. MTA is gathering information from users and holding area meetings that will be helpful in planning the future of rail transportation. February 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Towson Library, 320 York Road, will provide you with an opportunity to voice your comments. For more information call 410-767-8762.

Captain Ronald Schwartz was introduced as the new commander of the Seventh Precinct, Cockeysville. He reported the good news that crime in the Cockeysville Precinct was down in 2001. Capt. Schwartz is looking forward to working closely with us and will welcome your questions or comments. He can be reached at 410-887-1829 or rschwartz@co.ba.md.us. Be sure to look at Business Beat, the regular report from the Precinct. See the address under the News section on our website.

Our final report was from Donna Spicer, President of the Loch Raven Business Association. Donna is a member of the Lighting Advisory Committee and has worked with Councilman Wayne Skinner on the issue. No draft has yet been issued. When and if there is a draft, comments will be welcome. Until then this issue is no issue.

Senator Andy Harris commented that there is also a lighting bill to come before the General Assembly this session. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.

The Legislative Committee of the Baltimore County Chamber meets weekly during the legislative session. Look for the weekly report from me.

Please bring guests and prospective members.
