HVBF Monthly Meeting - Facilities,
Security, Transportation Roundtable Host: Loyola Graduate Center Attending: Steve Antonsen, Colliers Pinkard Program Director Clare Berrang introduced Detective John Reginaldi, Baltimore County Police Department, to talk to us about security and the many services offered by the Department to meet our security needs. John emphasized the importance of effective lighting in deterring crime. This follows our last meeting led by BGE to discuss commercial lighting. Lighting is the best deterrent available to us. Nine benefits of security lighting were discussed along with security lighting recommendations. Metal halide is the most recommended lighting source because its qualities permit better color identification than any other source. This is important in identifying perpetrators. John can be reached at 410-887-5901 to discuss your needs. The ability of our teenagers to instantly contact each other through wireless phone technology and computer has led to instant response when a party is in progress. Literally dozens of party crashers can descend on your home if the word of a party gets out. What to do? Encourage your kids to keep party plans confidential. You can also hire off-duty police officers to fend off this crisis. Call Sgt Andy Zelenka at the Precinct Seven Outreach Unit, 410-887-1863, for more information. Sgt Zelenka gave us the Precinct Seven crime report. Laptop thefts continue to decline. However, there is a growing number of unauthorized people engaged in petty theft under the pretense of applying for a job or requesting to use the bathrooms. Randall Scott gave the SHA highway report on Inner Loop resurfacing, Shawan Road work in progress and continued work on the I-83 bridge at Timonium Road. Work is planned for the bridge and interchanges at 695 and York Road. This is a long term project. The post office is pleading for the return of mail baskets. There are literally millions of them lost by the post office to companies who do not return them. Let’s help keep the cost of postage down by looking in our mailrooms and returning those baskets. You can bring them to our next meeting on December 10 when the U S Postal Service presents the program and I’ll turn them in for you. |
