Clare Berrang welcomed Anthony Solomon from the Baltimore County Department of Economic Development. Anthony described the functions of the Department to find and retain businesses in Baltimore County. Services provided by the Department are financial assistance, workforce development and real estate services.

Anthony gave us a visual snapshot of Baltimore County featuring growth areas and transportation services. East, west, north and south areas were defined according to their growth potential. The Highlands represent future growth in the I-83/York Road corridor of the Forum. We will exam this in more detail at our next meeting when Chris Smith of TriAlliance will talk about The Highlands.

Questions were taken by Anthony on the coming development at Hunt Valley Town Center including the possibility of a Wegman’s store locating there.

Anthony can be reached at asolomon@co.ba.md.us or 410-887-8028.

Lt. Marty Lurz reported for Precinct 7. Laptops are still the object of choice for thieves in the Hunt Valley Area. Your attention to security and monitoring those who visit your offices is the deterrent.

We will be taking more about security as the Forum pursues our Homeland Security Initiative…Assuring Business Continuity.
