Anthony Solomon, Baltimore County Department of Economic Development, introduced Albert Svehla, Baltimore County Office of Planning to discuss with us zoning in Baltimore County.

Albert’s presentation can be found on the Baltimore County Website at www.baltocountyonline.info. See Citizens Guide to Zoning. Zoning information that relates to a specific area can be found by clicking Maps, then My Neighborhood and then Zoning. Bill Hughey at the Office of Planning at 410-887-3480 or whughey@co.ba.md.us specifically handles issues in our area of Baltimore County.

The zoning master plan is updated every ten years and zoning is updated every four years. This year, open filing ends October 15. No issues can be raised after November 28. The calendar is on the website. Fees are $ 1,125 for large issues and $ 500 for small issues.

Of note is that 66% of Baltimore County is Resource Conservation.

Reports:

Bob Steffey, SHA, reported on road construction. On I-83, the Timonium Road overpass and the Cold Bottom Road overpass are winding down. I-83 between Timonium Road and the Beltway continues. Construction will begin now on five I-695 bridges and continue over the next two years. The York Road bridge will be first with bridge construction going west between the two 83’s over the period.

John Reginaldi reminded us of the Maryland Crime Prevention Association Conference from October 21-24 in Ocean City. For more information call John at 410-795-5910.

Lt. Marty Lurz reports for Precinct 7.

“We've had two recent overnight business burglaries in which laptop computers were taken:

1) Charles Blazek Company, 20 East. Timonium Road 08/26/2003 - Entry was gained through an unlocked side door. The suspect/s stole two Toshiba laptop computers.

2) Yellow Book USA 1850 York Road 08/30/2003 - Entry was gained by smashing out the front door glass with a rock. The suspect/s stole a Dell laptop computer.

Please remind everyone to be aware of the security measures in their buildings. You'd be surprised at the numbers of burglaries that occur in which entry is gained through an unlocked door or window. The Baltimore County Police Precinct 7 Community Outreach Team would be more than happy to conduct security surveys for any businesses that may be interested. Forum members can call me at 410-887-1820 to request a survey.”
