Security, Transportation Roundtable Host: Loyola College in Maryland Attending: Clare Berrang, MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Clare Berrang introduced Charles Mackenzie of Mackenzie Commercial Real Estate to lead a discussion on the development of Schilling Place at Hunt Valley. MacKenzie in a joint venture with Kinsley Construction of York Pa. is transforming the old Northrop-Grumman buildings from industrial to office. These buildings were 48% vacant when purchased by MacKenzie in August 2003. This will be a 3 to 5 year project involving a total of 5 buildings. The total square footage of the project is 450,000. The premier tenant will be the St. Paul Companies who will occupy the 100,000 square foot facility at 111 Schilling Place. Occupancy is expected for July of 2004. 101 Schilling should be ready for tenants in the fall of 2004. Marty Lurz reported that public safety events are quiet in Precinct 7. Marty talked about the crash on I-83 and several bank robberies. Apprehensions of bank robbers are occurring at a very positive rate. Marty responded to an inquiry about off duty officers available for hire. The program is called Uniform Secondary Employment and is available to any business. Member Bradford Bank uses these services at their Jacksonville branch. Uniformed officers are available for hire directly. Rates are as agreed between the officer and the business. The accident on I-83 was discussed emphasizing the need to use seat belts. Joppa Road at the 695 overpass will be reduced to a single lane in one direction for 400 days beginning on January 22, 2004. Construction on York Road and 695 will be complete in the summer of 2005. A streetscape project on York Road from the city line to Stevenson Lane will continue to 2005. The construction at Timonium Road at I-83 is nearly complete. The lane addition to I-83 north bound from 695 will be completed this winter. |
