Chairman Steve Roth introduced Jeff Miller, Director of Sales of Constellation Energy Classic. Jeff gave us a visual preview of the Constellation Energy Classic to be held September 27-October 3, 2004. Member Constellation Energy sponsors this Champions Tour golf event. Packages were distributed showing advertising opportunities. Constellation Classic is also making available tickets at special prices for the members of the Forum. More information on the tickets will be forthcoming. Contact Jeff at jeffm@pipco.com or call 410-234-6224 for more information.

Steve then introduced Ed Toppi, Vice President, Constellation NewEnergy, to lead our discussion on electric supplier choices now being made by most businesses in Maryland. Ed focused on purchasing electricity and managing electricity supply and defined the deregulated market. The benefits of competition and the composition of the price of electricity were explained. The largest component of price is the cost of fuel and conversion (70%). Other components are certain defined premiums, ancillary services and margins. Your search should be for the lowest but right price. Risk tolerance will relate to your price and terms. Managing your costs requires diligence.

An electronic copy of Ed’s presentation requested from Ed at ed.toppi@constellation.com.

Marty Lurz gave a public safety report and distributed information on the Baltimore County Police Community Relations Council. The Council meets monthly and the membership cost is minimal. Your corporate support is important. For more information contact Marty at jlurz@co.ba.md.us or phone: 410-887-1828.

Randall Scott gave the SHA report and distributed copies of the 2004 Maryland Highway Improvement Program. This is a handy guide to projects planned for this year.
