Chairman Steve Roth welcomed the Roundtable and introduced Lori Eig of Ergo Concepts, LLC. Constellation Energy has used Ergo Concepts in the design of new and remodeled workspaces.

Lori advised that this phase of discussion of ergonomics in the workplace is unlike the program presented at the Human Resources Roundtable on March 3. This phase will deal with the facility manager’s role in fitting the workplace to the worker. Making a job hazard evaluation is primary. This involves talking to the employee, watching the employee work and referencing occupational specific hazard tools. Awareness should begin with the new hire process.

Controls should be applied to eliminate or reduce hazards. Administrative controls include seminars.

Workstation layout should include a fully adjustable chair, attention to monitor location and brightness, keyboard and mouse location and position and telephone location.

For more information, contact Lori at lorieig@ergoconceptsllc.com or call 301-571-2436.

Marty Lurz gave the public safety report for Precinct 7. Crime in the area is under control. Marty still cautions us to know who is in your facility. Keep doors secured.
