Capt. Marty Lurz opened the roundtable with a public safety report. Included in the report were cautions about scams currently being perpetrated on county citizens. Marty also continued the reminder to keep doors and windows secured.

Marty introduced Detective Cathy Batton, Sgt. Todd Rassa and Lt.Steve Gossage of the Baltimore County Police Department. Cathy began our discussion on violence in the workplace. Cathy began with a description of the unit handling these incidents. Early intervention is key to prevention. Training of workers needs to be provided in the workplace for early intervention to succeed. Homicide in the workplace is the number one cause of homicides for women. It is the number two cause for men. There are identifiable patterns and warning signs that an employee may become violent. These may be found in the PowerPoint presentation attached. The Baltimore County police Department is ready to help you with a program to deter this violence.
