HVBF Monthly Meeting - Facilities,
Security, Transportation Roundtable Host: The Graduate Center at Loyola College Attending: Lou Anderson, System Source Darrell Wiles of the Baltimore County Department of Traffic & Transportation presented the proposal to mitigate the dangerous traffic conditions at Gilroy and Beaver Dam Roads. Keith Link of Baltimore County Traffic Engineering assisted Darrell in the presentation. A roundabout would be constructed at the intersection with work beginning this summer and a completion date in September. Darrell used a PowerPoint presentation to show the roundabout and the success of roundabouts throughout the state. This presentation will be attached to this summary when sent to the members. A roundabout with gates at the light rail crossings will slow traffic on Beaver Dam Road to a safe level and reduce the incidents of serious accidents. Darrell can be reached at dwiles@baltimorecountymd.gov. Keith can be reached at wlink@baltimorecountymd.gov. Walter Mikulski, representing Bank of America, reported on the unauthorized parking on the Towne Centre side of their parking lot and the resulting dumping of litter. Discussion covered some possible solutions to limit access to the lot to employees only. Marty Lurz offered the services of Precinct 7 to help with a workable solution to the problem. Larry LaMotte and Tucker Davis of South River Consulting presented an analysis of the current electric rate market and the upcoming rate increase by Baltimore Gas & Electric Company. Capacity market prices will substantially increase effective June 1, 2007. We looked at charts showing the steady growth of electricity and natural gas over the years. There is little we can do other than to shop for the best rates from those companies licensed to provide power in Maryland. It appears that B G & E may have the most competitive rates but all considerations must be examined. The conversation was constructive as we considered the types of service and contract lengths available. For more information contact Larry or Tucker at 443-524-2880. |
