HVBF Monthly Meeting - Facilities,
Security, Transportation Roundtable Host: The Graduate Center at Loyola College Attending: Captain Steve Adelsberger, Baltimore County Fire Dept First time attenders were introduced. Capt. Marty Lurz reported on public safety issues in Precinct 7. The Race for the Cure was a success in spite of the unexpected turn out of nearly 43,000 people. Lessons learned were discussed. One lesson learned was to come early. Late arrivals caused some traffic problems as they abandoned their cars to make it to the Race on time. Light rail was not operating during the actual running of the Race because of public safety concerns. Lt. Mark Demski reported from the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management that the reverse 911 system is in place. During a public emergency, businesses and residents within one half mile of the area affected would be contacted by telephone announcing the emergency and required action. Erin Kuhn, new Assistant District Engineer for the State Highway Administration reported on road conditions in our area. The widening of York Road continues in the Lutherville area. Please visit www.marylandroads.com for the latest in highway news. Captain Steve Adelsberger of the Baltimore County Fire Dept. began our discussion on public access defibrillators. Baltimore County has partnered with Cardiac Science Corp. to make available these life saving devices at an affordable price that includes training. Cheryl Anne DeHart, territory sales manager for Cardiac Science Corp., demonstrated the use of the device on a training dummy. The window to save a person in cardiac arrest is only minutes. The availability of a device that can safely and reliably deliver the exact response is critical. This is now available to any employer, school or church concerned about their employees or the public using their facilities. For more information contact
