Shirley began the meeting with around the room introductions. Melissa Menkel was introduced as the representative of new member Whiteford, Taylor & Preston L.L.P. Mary Ellen Judy acted as facilitator for the meeting. The focus of the meeting was an exchange of information on benefit programs of the participants. 

The participants who brought their plan summaries distributed them. The elements of each plan were discussed. Some unique and timely benefits included Long Term Care Insurance for parents.

Atlantic FCCU offers cash outs for unused sick leave and offers mortgage discounts to employees. KCI offers cash outs for all forms of leave and allows employees to manage their own leave time.

Pat Paul said that NRT was offering legal assistance as a benefit.

PDP Group has a transportation benefit program to help employees get to work.

An exchange of information on waiting time for benefits to begin showed a trend toward shorter waits. The range was from immediate on most benefits except health which was 30 days and long term care which was 6 months.

401k matching funds were discussed. Dennis Carter noted the national average was a 50% match up to 5% of compensation.

Our next meeting of the Roundtable will be on Thursday, December 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.. Our host will be Legg Mason; Executive Plaza III; Suite 1200; 11350 McCormick Road.
