Mary Ellen Judy opened the Roundtable with introductions of those attending. A special welcome was given to Judy Cross of Point Breeze Credit Union. Also recognized were prospective members Judy Millspaugh-Drayton of AJILON Consulting and Tricia Moeslein of Principal Financial Group.

Alan Schulman led our discussion on voluntary benefits. Voluntary benefits are those beyond the core benefits of health, dental, life and 401k. The employee, through pre-tax or after tax payroll deductions, pays for voluntary benefits. Employees have a vast menu of products available to them. Employers have no costs in these benefits except in the costs of payroll administration.

Employees prefer to have these voluntary benefits explained to them by the benefit vendor who also signs them up in a face-to-face environment. These benefits are portable and tend to build strong employee loyalty.
