Kay Calivas and her team from Stephen James Associates were thanked for sponsoring the breakfast this morning.

Our executive director elect, Mary Ellen Morrison, was introduced. Mary Ellen will begin effective November 1 as John Beever steps aside after more than six and one-half years.

Those attending for the first time were introduced.

Christine announced that any who would like to work on the program committee should contact Christine at cmeichler@pdpgroupinc.com. This committee arranges the topics and presenters and is now working on 2008.

Christine introduced Melissa Wilcox of MarketWorks to lead our discussion on Motivating Employees. An overview of the discussion included the positive reinforcement challenge, effectively providing praise, motivating your team, ways to recognize star performers and new ways to motivate. Appreciation ranks number one among employees as a team motivator. Contrary to popular opinion, wages rank fifth as a motivator. Motivated employees are more likely to achieve goals. Effective motivation must emphasize success. Employee recognition should be delivered in an open and public way. Most effective forms of recognition cost nothing.

For more information, contact Melissa Wilcox at MarketWorks or 410-751-6238.
