The Information Systems Roundtable joined Lattanze Center @ Loyola College to hear Robert B. Barnhill, Jr., Chairman, President, C.E.O.; and Robert C. Singer, C.F.O. of TESSCO Technologies examine the effects of such a catastrophic event on the continuance of their operations. Being prepared for disaster whether natural or man made has become a focus of attention for large and small companies. Can a company survive an event that threatens survival and tests the plans developed for continuity? The insurance experts say that 60% of all companies threatened with a major catastrophe would fail. Whether a threat on our homeland security, a severe weather event or the failure of infrastructure, the impact would be the same. The failure of a water main at their headquarters in Hunt Valley tested their business continuity program. The presenters discussed the critical components of designing and implementing an effective business continuity plan and the role it plays in protecting the ongoing viability of any organization.
