Ann Attanasio, Director of Business Leadership Programs, introduced Beth Vergnetti and Jeffrey Maynard of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, L.L.P.. Our discussion focused on “Identifying The Legal Risks and Benefits Of Operating A Website”.

Provocative questions such as “Who owns your website?” set the tone for a seminar that encouraged us to seek answers to questions we thought were obvious. Agreements are necessary to insure that your website will be operated in an expected manner. Agreements may include web site development, web site hosting, content license, linking license/policy, Metatag license and web advertising. Sections of your website should be devoted to Terms and Conditions and a Privacy Statement.

We examined the website of Ozio, a fictitious seller of travel software, to uncover flaws that could create difficulties.
