11th annual program awards local seniors $1,500 scholarships for higher education
HUNT VALLEY, Md. – July 9, 2017 – Point Breeze Credit Union has awarded scholarships to 15 high school seniors as a part of its 11th annual scholarship program. The students will each receive $1,500 towards his or her higher education.
“Each year we are highly impressed by the inspired applications that we receive. This year’s scholarship winners were no exception and stood out for their creativity, ambition and leadership skills,” said Genie Briggs, senior vice president and director of marketing at Point Breeze Credit Union. “We are proud to support these high school seniors as they continue their education and look forward to seeing them achieve success in their future endeavors."
To apply, students submitted essays about their short and long term goals for their educations, careers and finances. Additionally, they were asked to create a hypothetical budget on a $40,000 annual salary. To be eligible, students needed to be a current owner, joint owner of or be named on a custodial account in good standing with Point Breeze Credit Union.
The winners were selected by a scholarship committee comprised of Point Breeze Credit Union executives and board members.
