Each year HVBF invites members to meet the Board of Directors, Executive Director, Committee Chairs and to update the membership on prior year summaries, treasurer’s report and current state of HVBF.

The Public Policy Committee has been very active and will summarize the SMART Goals for 2025 with safety, transportation and legislation that is and will impact businesses in the area. 

The Membership, Events, Roundtable and Marketing Committees will provide updates on new member growth, sponsor growth, retention rates and upcoming events for the 2025 calendar. Member only facilitated roundtables continue to be a success and will continue for the second year!

HVBF Member of the Year 2024 will be announced!

Beer, wine, heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served for all members.
After a short presentation we will open the floor for Q and A.

ACTION ALERT Legislative Update: Q4 2024 Building Energy Performance Standards Effective December 23, 2024 

Friday, December 13, 2024, the Maryland Department of the Environment announced that the previously published regulations for the Building Energy Performance Standards will take effect on December 23, 2024.  More information to the regulations can be found here.

Additional information regarding BEPS can be found at this link on MDE’s website, and the Notice of Final Action and a copy of regulations are attached for your reference.

Additionally, the HVBF PPC is also holding The Annual Public Policy Symposium “State of the State, State of the County” Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 8:30 am, Executive Plaza, 11350 McCormick Road, Hunt Valley, Maryland  –  Grason Wiggins VP Government Affairs of Maryland Chamber of Commerce will be available to answer more questions from our members and guests on this new regulation.

Hunt Valley Business Forum 2024 SMART Goals and Priorities Public Policy Committee

PUBLIC SAFETY GOAL: To ensure the enforcement of current laws prohibiting panhandling.

TRANSPORTATION GOAL: To pursue specific highway and interstate interchange modifications to improve circulation and access in the greater Hunt Valley area.

LEGISLATIVE GOAL: To disseminate pertinent legislative issues to HVBF membership and community.

Since establishing these goals, Public Policy Committee members have been diligently working on identifying the appropriate channels and officials to help them meet the goals. In addition to meeting with Baltimore County police on numerous occasions and state highway officials, they are also engaging Baltimore County Executive and Council Members as well as appropriate leaders of community association.

ACTION Alert on Maryland Building Performance Standards – VIRTUAL HEARING October 9 2024

The Maryland Department of the Environment gave notice of public hearing/comment period concerning the following proposed action: New Subtitle COMAR 26.28 – Building Energy Performance Standards for new Regulations .01 – .04 and withdrawal of the proposed 2023 Building Energy Performance Standards.

The purpose of this action is to create the Maryland Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) as required by the Climate Solutions Now Act (CSNA) of 2022. See, in relevant part, Title 2, Subtitle 16 of the Environment Article, Annotated Code of Maryland. The 2023 BEPS proposed action has been withdrawn, and a new 2024 BEPS action has been proposed.

The regulatory action listed above will not be submitted to the U.S. EPA as part of Maryland’s State Implementation Plan (SIP).  The full text of the proposed regulatory action is attached and appears in the Maryland Register CLICK HERE on September 6, 2024.

The Department of the Environment will hold a virtual public hearing on the proposed action on October 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

The Climate Solutions Now Act (Building Energy Performance Standards) – The Maryland Department of Environment has published their “Building Energy Performance standards” outlining the reporting requirements pertaining to the Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022 (SB528).  SB528 is described as the most rigorous state legislation addressing climate change in the county, with the state of Maryland setting the most aggressive standards in the United States.
